Epic Holiday Fails
I'm gonna hazard a guess that I'm not the only one who has them, so hopefully this post will be of use to a few of you.
In a long list of holiday 'get to dos' was "make pizelles". For those of you who are not familiar they are light and beautiful Italian cookies. This fall my 13 year old flew across the country with her grandpa and drove all the way home with treasures from her great-great-uncle Joe's estate. Ever since, we've been on a bit of a pizelle rush. When I say "we" I mean we eat them, and she makes them. Well today she went shopping with a friend so the making was on me...
As the above picture reveals the making did not go so well. I actually bailed after attempt number 6 at pressing them and have passed the task onto her for when she gets home.
I'll lay out the model below, but in essence it's not the perfection that makes the holidays special, it's the journey, the memories, and most importantly the intention. Whatever your holiday fail I encourage you to have a good laugh, make it the best story you can. Make it one your kids will giggle at for years to come, and your friends and followers with take respite in, because it makes them realize how human you are in your lack of perfection. Instead of telling a story of stress and disaster, tell one of humanness and hope.
